2021 was a remarkable year for the publishing houses within Storytel Books, with a 20% year-to-year revenue growth, from 657 MSEK (2020) to 789 MSEK (2021). Storytel Books is the home for all publishing houses owned by Storytel Group: Norstedts Förlagsgrupp (SE), Lind & Co (SE), Gummerus (FI), Aula (FI) and People’s (DK).
Storytel Books will invest in Mockingbird Publishing Software, a customized ERP for publishers. Storytel Books have been a customer to Mockingbird for over one year, and will now commit by becoming a major stakeholder in the company.
Storytel has joined the world’s largest initiative for sustainable business, and has pledged to align operations with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and report its progress. The new sustainability committee within Storytel’s board of directors will lead and monitor the company’s sustainability efforts.
Storytel Books AB (“Storytel Books”), a subsidiary to Group parent Storytel AB (publ) (“Storytel”), is acquiring a 100 percent stake in the Finnish publisher Aula & Co. Through this acquisition, Storytel further strengthens its position as distributor, producer and publisher on the Finnish market where Storytel, in 2019, acquired Gummerus – Finland’s third-largest publishing house.
Linda Säresand, currently the vice president of Norstedts Förlagsgrupp, has been appointed CEO of the newly formed subsidiary Storytel Books AB (“Storytel Books”) as the Group parent Storytel AB gathers its wholly owned book-related businesses under one company. Linda Säresand will also become the chair of the Board of the publishing houses Norstedts Förlagsgrupp (SWE), Gummerus (FIN) and People’s (DEN).
